Each morning we participate in many different activities to reinforce our knowledge and skills in sounds, tricky words and writing. We often have a free writing table where we explore a current topic of interest – this week it is ‘living things’ which links with our science learning. Each day we read with our teacher. After groups we read a quality text together and then our teacher models the writing process with us. We then write about the text we read. Miss Chambers is always there to help us too!
Maths
We begin our Maths lessons with a number talk – this helps us to think about numbers and what they mean. We then engage in a lesson around our weekly focus working towards achieving the success criteria so we can meet the set learning intentions. We engage in whole group, small group and independent activities to consolidate our learning. This week we are learning about teen numbers and how each teen number has a group of ten and some ones.
Creative Arts
We love our ‘art parties’ in KW! This week we made moss gardens using real moss! We have been learning all about living and non-living things and this activity was a great way to help us distinguish the difference. We went for a walk to see moss growing in our school and sorted the rest of our materials into living and non-living things. We then created our own beautiful garden! We wrote about our gardens the following day. So much fun!
