2B
Mrs Barker
and Miss Lyn
2B is a class of 22 Year 2 students. We love to learn new things and are always welcoming of guests. We are very fortunate to have Miss Lyn helping in our classroom each day. Each week, we have Mrs Earsman for Library and Miss McPhee for Geography.
English
Every day we complete rotation activities and work with our teacher for Guided Reading. The rotation activities help us to practise our spelling rule for the week, build our fine motor skills and to work cooperatively with other people. Guided Reading is when Mrs Barker works with us in small groups to improve our reading skills.
Maths
Each day we explore a real-world mathematical problem, like working out how to count a large group of people or items. This year we have looked at making and breaking numbers beyond one thousand, adding and subtracting using a variety of strategies, measuring area and length, reading quarter-hour times on analog and digital clocks and the features of two- and three-dimensional shapes. We really enjoyed using the Lego BricQ kits to put our measurement and cooperation skills to the test.
Science
This year in Science we have explored where our food comes from and even got to make bread and ice cream in class! We are hoping to make playdough this term as we look at how materials can change when combined.
