1/2D is a class of 20 Year 1 and Year 2 students. We love a challenge and work hard to get sweaty brains every single day. We are so fortunate to be assisted each day by Mrs Potts. Each week, we have Mrs Earsman for Library and Miss McPhee for Art and History.
English
We do Guided Reading and rotation activities every day. The rotation activities we do help us learn sight words, improve our fine motor skills and apply spelling rules to new words. Mrs Deland works with small groups of students to improve their reading skills while we do rotations.
Maths
In Maths, 1/2D work out what they know about a 'number of the day' each day. They work on new mathematical concepts with an inquiry-based focus. Some topics covered this year include numbers to 100 and 1000, teen numbers, doubles, near doubles, even and odd, efficient addition and subtraction strategies, reading o'clock, half-past, quarter past and quarter to times, 2D shapes and 3D objects.
Art
We read the story called 'The Fabulous Friend Machine.' Popcorn the chicken learnt some very important lessons about safe and responsible ways to use technology. We then created beautiful artworks of Popcorn the chicken with Miss McPhee.
