Each morning we participate in many different activities to reinforce our knowledge and skills in sounds, tricky words and writing. We often have a free writing table where we explore a current topic of interest – this week, it is ‘living things’ which links with our science learning. Each day we read with our teacher. After groups we read a quality text together and then our teacher models the writing process with us. We then write about the text we read. Mrs Hando is always there to help us too!
Maths
We begin our Maths lessons with a number talk – this help us to think about numbers and what they mean! We then engage in a lesson around our weekly focus working towards achieving the success criteria so we can meet the set learning intentions. We engage in whole group, small group and independent activities to consolidate our learning. This week we are learning about teen numbers and how each teen number has a group of ten and some ones.
Science
In Science, we are learning about living things and non-living things. We have learnt all about plants, their needs and how they can provide us with oxygen and food. We read Five Beans and we wrote a procedure for planting a bean seed. We then very carefully followed the steps and planted our very own bean seed that we are excitedly watching, anticipating their growth! We designed and made a greenhouse.
